For its latest various artists affair, “Between Tides“, Deep Steppe brings together four contributions from Mungo Sound Machine, Ballan, Kerouac, and the trio of Adam Rose, JJ Selects & Miro. Closing the record on the B2, “Indecision” feels particularly true to the EP’s title: a track suspended somewhere between states, neither pushing towards an obvious climax nor ever quite standing still.
Deep and atmospheric from the outset, “Indecision” builds its character through repetition, restraint, and an increasingly absorbing sense of momentum. Spoken vocals appear within the haze while subtle layers gradually settle around the groove, creating a hypnotic pull that remains remarkably consistent throughout. There is little interest in bright, euphoric gestures here; instead, the track draws its energy from depth and tension.
It is easy to imagine “Indecision” finding its natural habitat in the early morning, when a dancefloor has moved beyond the need for obvious peaks and a single groove can suddenly feel endless. Equally suited to an after-hours setting, its strength lies in that ability to alter the atmosphere without forcing the moment. Patient, immersive, and quietly compelling, Adam Rose, JJ Selects & Miro create the kind of record you gradually disappear into.
