Latebloomers Records plants its first seed with “The First Bloom“, a debut vinyl release bringing together five artists connected through friendship and a shared affection for underground dance music. Opening the record are Miami Beat$ ’93 crew members Beet WorldWide and Uncle Franky with “Emotions”, a track that looks lovingly towards the ’90s while keeping both feet firmly planted on today’s dancefloor.
Deep, housey grooves provide the foundation, but it’s the track’s unmistakable nod to ’90s R&B that gives “Emotions” its character. Warm female vocals drift across the arrangement with an almost memory-like quality, occasionally contrasted by sparse spoken male phrases, while the groove underneath remains smooth, understated, and effortlessly infectious. There’s nostalgia woven throughout without the track ever feeling overly sentimental—the references are familiar, yet the combination feels completely natural.
The result is a proper summer groover: warm, emotional, and wonderfully easy-going without losing its club appeal. Whether played under the afternoon sun or when daylight begins creeping back onto the dancefloor, “Emotions” captures exactly what its title promises—a little romance, a little nostalgia, and plenty of groove.
