Barcelona-based exceptional artist Lis Sarroca continues her triumphal path of releasing quality music. After EPs on Shall Not Fade, Chiwax, a contribution to Cinthie’s DJ Kicks compilation and her own label Maai, she returns to the latter and kicks off its 2022 madness with a club-oriented two tracker called Driven. The EP’s title track comes in with a Lis-typical housey bass line, playful synths and slight break-esque nuances as heard in previous releases of Lis and certainly a major influence for her productions. However, Driven takes the floors by storm, the deep tone though breathes another facet of her creative being into the track and perfectly adds a vibe to the track that separates it from usual peak time tracks in a rather classy manner. The B-side, namely 3000, has a proper UK-vibe with a slight Rave-attitude caused by the deep partly bleepy synth-line and spoken vocals. Just as on the A1 Lis manages to create an artsy piece of music that expresses her preferences in an unobtrusive way – on the one side Driven as well as 3000 stoke those peak time moments but on the other side have this depth and coolness to not do the obvious and expected and therefore makes floors ache for more.
