Belgium House wizard Ricky Razu revives the genre with a heartfelt and soulful note that seems to be make up for everything that has gone missing over the past year(s). The Belgium based artist’s first appearance goes back to the year 2018, when Ricky released his Cycle EP on Houseum Records, Cycles. Last year the House-head returned to the label with a split EP called Two of a Kind with Marc Brauner with each delivering three tracks each. After a contribution to Darker Than Wax’s Bodyclock Vol. 1 Razu has just released a four tracker on French label Happiness Therapy, which goes by the name of Power of Love and pushes the artist’s House sound to a next if not to say to another level. With the beforementioned release Ricky simply connects the dots between influences from House music’s golden era, namely the 90s, and today’s more club-oriented House music. So utlimately Ricky’s approach focuses on elements from House music’s early stages and puts them into a contemporary context. Consequently you hear a lot of instruments, e.g. organs, pianos or even a guitar on the one side and have those partly enriched with vocals and genre-typical basslines. For his art:cast Ricky takes the listener through and on this House music journey, with little influences from several sub-genres, which all cover a rather deep vibe and vary between clear-blue-sky and in-the-club moments.
