Having released on labels such as DFA or Cin Cin together with his partners in crime, Nancy Whang, Nicholas Millhiser and Jerry Fuchs, and under their The Juan MacLean moniker, the New Yorker John MacLean now makes his Correspondant debut as a solo-artist with his Manthony EP. The four tracker features music that seems to be just designed for that special occasion – namely that of presenting four disco influenced tunes tailored for Jennifer Cardini and her label. For She’s Breaking Up John teamed up with Berlin producer Fantastic Twins, who delivers’s some magnificent vocal bits that emphasize the overall freaky note of the track. It’s safe to say that Julienne’s addings sweeten the dark scheme of a creepy and sad topic as the take musically portrays how two lovers can come to end, portrayed by two lovers of the art. It smoothly depicts – with all the heaviness that comes with it – an inner strife of a person that’s undergoing the aforementioned (last) stage of a relationship and it seem as if MacLean and Julienne, Fantastic Twins real name, are pretty much on the same page when it comes to musically express it.
Juan MacLean‘s EP Manthony will be released on Correspondant on May 15th, 2020.
