There’s a certain magic in a groove that doesn’t need to shout to be heard. A warm bassline, a perfectly timed percussion loop, a melody that sneaks up on you when you least expect it. It’s those little moments that can turn a few hours of playing records into something worth remembering. And at our latest edition of absolutely on music, featuring Swin alongside Henry and Holger Breuer, there was plenty of room for exactly that.
Moving between deep, understated house selections and more playful, rhythm-driven territory, the session was less about chasing big moments and more about enjoying the journey. Three individual musical perspectives, each adding their own flavour to an afternoon and evening where the records did most of the talking.
Henry kicked things off with a beautifully deep and groove-oriented selection, setting the tone with warm house rhythms and an easygoing sense of flow. Keeping things soulful in spirit and firmly focused on the groove, his set created just the right atmosphere to ease into the session. No rush, no unnecessary drama, just a carefully selected collection of records that allowed the music to unfold naturally.
Taking over from Henry, Swin continued the journey into the deeper corners of house music, bringing his own distinctive flavour to the proceedings. Warm, rolling basslines, subtle rhythmic details, and an understated energy shaped a set that felt unhurried and beautifully balanced. The kind of music that draws you in gradually, where a perfectly placed bassline or a small shift in rhythm can make all the difference. Deep, housey, and full of character, his selection was a lovely reminder that sometimes the most captivating grooves are the ones that don’t demand attention.
For the closing stretch, Holger Breuer took things in a slightly different direction. Beginning with a slower, deeper selection, he gradually introduced more momentum and pressure, allowing the sound to evolve towards techier house grooves and the unmistakable swing of UK garage. As the energy increased, so did the rhythmic playfulness, with rolling basslines, sharper percussion, and the occasional R&B influence finding its way into the mix. A few unexpected turns here and there, but always connected by a shared sense of groove.
And that’s really what absolutely on music is about. Creating a space where musical curiosity comes first, where a deep house record can sit comfortably alongside something a little more unexpected, and where the joy of discovering and sharing music remains at the centre of everything.
Three artists, different perspectives, and a journey through warm house grooves, deeper textures, techier rhythms, and a touch of UK garage.
absolutely on music. Nothing more, nothing less.
