exclusive | Jamahr – Need You | Toscal Records

On the fourth vinyl-only release from Toscal Records, Italian maestro Jamahr takes the A-side with two finely tuned club weapons – “Keep Rock Again” and “Need You”. Sharing the record with Spanish duo Borch & Joel Hernandez on the flip, the EP feels like a carefully balanced dialogue between groove, pressure, and late-night energy. And right at its emotional and physical core sits the A2: “Need You”.

From the beginning, “Need You” announces itself with weight. A chunky, commanding note sets the foundation, quickly joined by a groovy, rolling bassline that locks the room into motion. There’s a rawness to the groove – almost industrial in texture – yet it never feels cold. Instead, Jamahr wraps that toughness in warmth and swing, creating tension that feels alive rather than mechanical.

Female vocal snippets drift through the mix like fragments of memory, seductive and distant, while bleepy, electro-leaning sounds flicker around the rhythm section. They add sparkle and edge without cluttering the groove, giving the track its restless, hypnotic character. Everything feels slightly rough around the edges in the best possible way – built for dark rooms, loud systems, and dancers who like their house music with bite.

The magic of “Need You” lies in how it keeps one foot in control while letting the other drift into chaos. It’s deeply functional, engineered for peak-time moments, yet packed with personality and atmosphere. The industrial undertone, the sensual vocals, and the elastic low-end all work together to create a track that doesn’t just move bodies – it grabs them.

Placed inside Toscal’s carefully curated vinyl run, “Need You” signals exactly where the label is headed: uncompromising, physical, and emotionally charged club music. Pure madness for the floor, delivered with the finesse of a producer who knows exactly when to push and when to let the groove breathe.
