review | Cadence – CASH4TRAX001 | Cash For Trax

Cadence, the club-ready alias of Connor Canty, kicks off the new label Cash For Trax with a two-tracker that doesn’t just nod to the past – it shoves it into the rave with style. Titled “CASH4TRAX001”, the debut release fuses UKG muscle with iconic HipHop moments, reworking well-loved classics into dancefloor detonators with flair and finesse.

A1 “GTFU” flips Pharoahe Monch’s 1999 classic “Simon Says” into a tech-edged UKG weapon that’s as brash as it is brilliant. A pulsating bassline lays the foundation, wobbling and swinging in true Garage fashion, while the instantly recognisable “get the f*ck up” vocal punches through the mix with heavyweight force. But just as things seem to settle into peak-time pressure, the track breaks – literally. Cadence slows the tempo, lets the original track breathe, and gives the crowd just enough time to clock what’s going on before slamming the tempo back into gear. It’s a jaw-dropping moment of tension and release that turns a nostalgic nod into full-blown floor warfare. Part edit, part homage, and all heat.

The B1 “Nasty Girl” sees Cadence take on Tinashe with a sultry UKG twist. The original’s vocal gets a sleek tempo boost, layered over skipping percussion and bubbling low-end that’s pure peak or after-hour allure. Blobby bass stabs flirt with the mix, adding just enough bounce to keep things cheeky while staying deep in the pocket. It’s a sexy, tightly-built tune for steamy sets and late-night shuffles – effortlessly cool and irresistibly groovy.

With “CASH4TRAX001“, Cadence nails the edit game with swagger, precision, and enough low-end to rattle a Funktion-One. These aren’t just tracks — they’re crowd-churning tools, built for DJs who know how to flip a room.
