review | Various Artists – Juntos, Un Viaje Hacia El Sueño Eterno | AirFunk Special

From Colombia to France, friendship becomes frequency and groove becomes glue on “Juntos, Un Viaje Hacia El Sueño Eterno” a four-track vinyl-only gem and second special edition on AirFunk that blurs borders as easily as it blurs genres. With roots in both countries and hearts firmly planted on the dancefloor, this tight-knit crew draws from late-night convos, starlit jams, and the type of shared vision that can only come from friends-turned-family. The result? A truly borderless EP that celebrates funk, love, and the magnetic pull of collaboration.

Opening the record is “Take You Far Away” by David Triana, Aline Brooklyn, and Maxime dB – a flirtatious slice of vocoder-laced House that sparkles like a mirrorball in zero gravity. The bassline rolls with that slick midtempo swagger, but it’s the vocoder that steals the spotlight — cool, catchy, and so clean it practically begs for a rewind. Then comes the moment: the “take you far away” refrain melts into a deep, melancholic pad progression that lifts the track out of its funk roots and into pure dancefloor nostalgia. Think Air via Detroit, or George Clinton daydreaming at Panorama Bar. It’s the kind of track you fall in love to – or with.

“Journey of Love” dives deeper, this time with David Triana, Krol, Aline Brooklyn, and Maxime dB fusing electro-tinged edges and acid glimmers to push the energy forward. The bassline pumps with purpose while the vocoder, now more cryptic and restrained, dances in the shadows. It’s less obvious, more hypnotic – the kind of track that grabs you midway through a set when the lights are low and the groove is locked in.

On the flip, Paul Cut takes Triana y Hermana Juana’s “Maldito Aparato” for a house-informed spin. Latin percussion underpins the structure, but there’s nothing predictable here – the rhythm is fragmented, cheeky, and smartly restrained. Vocoder vocals return, but more as a hook than a focal point, surfacing in chopped-up waves while the track leans into a rhythmic call-and-response. It’s a remix that salutes Latin House while staying just left of center, reworking the source material with surgical flair and a DJ’s sensibility.

Closing the EP is the original version of “Maldito Aparato”, and it’s where the heart of the record lies. A celebration of Latin spirit through the lens of modern studio sheen, the track trades four-on-the-floor kicks for full-on South American swagger. Trumpets blare, percussion sizzles, and the vocoder vocals – equal parts charming and uncanny – give the whole affair a futuristic tilt. It’s music for the street, the rooftop, the dance — and yes, for couples who still dress up to sway in rhythm. One part homage, one part sci-fi dancehall fantasy, it’s a brilliant closer that leaves you smiling without quite knowing why.

Juntos, Un Viaje Hacia El Sueño Eterno” isn’t just a record. It’s a hug pressed into wax – groovey, weird, emotional, and totally essential. And as a vinyl-only affair, it’s the kind of thing you’ll want to hold onto, pass around, and play at that one moment when connection matters more than perfection.
