exclusive | Just_Me – Backspin EP | Interkom

Some records feel like a risk. Others feel like a reset button. Berlin’s Just_Me launches the wax wing of his new label Interkom Records with “Backspin EP” – a four-track statement that doesn’t just flex the catalogue number but locks in a full 360 snapshot of the sound he’s been quietly shaping for over a decade: part house, part tech, part electro daydream, part Garage-tinted flashback. All functional, no filler.

A-side opener “Spare Beat” sets the tone with a grin and a shuffle – snappy percussion and a rolling bassline that could’ve been ripped straight from a hazy ‘90s basement but lands perfectly in a room full of modern heads. Twisted pads, clever breakdowns, and echo-laced vocal flickers round it out. It’s a groove that moves and teases at once – equal parts warm-up and secret weapon for the right floor.

“Inner Circle” doubles down on the UK heartbeat – swing-heavy drums, sub-bass warmth and that just-right sense of deep-end tension. A late-night roller for rooms that like it heads-down but never sleepy. You can feel Just_Me’s years behind the booth and in the studio here: tight, confident, never overcooked.

Flip the record and you land on “Backspin” itself – the title track is pure arcade energy for the afterhours. A punchy drum engine locks in while a wobbly bassline and spiralling synths flicker through like neon tubes over a warehouse floor. It’s the kind of cut that winks at classic Breakbeat DNA without losing its straight 4am stomp.

Enter Harry Wills, who grabs the original by the collar and pulls it deeper into the breakbeat back room — all jungle nods, crunchy breaks, and that signature bounce that’s turned his name into a surefire sign the crowd’s about to get loose. A tight, confident flip that doesn’t overshadow but completes the package.

“Backspin EP” is more than just a label launch – it’s Just_Me showing exactly why his sets hit, why his engineering ear is trusted by heads worldwide, and why he’s still not afraid to press the grooves that feel right rather than follow a fleeting algorithm. House, Garage, Breakbeat, Electro – all boxed up under one fresh imprint, built to last, and designed for floors that know.

This one’s not just another plate for the shelf – it’s a reminder: rewind it, flip it, backspin it again.
