Heimyl steps onto System Error’s sub-label Filet Mignon with “Punch Box”, the A1 cut and a bold opening statement for the “Ghost Power EP“. From the very first bar, the track leans into a super groovy structure driven by firm, forward-leaning claps and an engine-like momentum that signals its dancefloor intentions without hesitation.
What begins as a smooth yet moody House framework gradually reveals darker contours: a shadowy synth-line snakes through the mix, adding tension and depth as it evolves. Rather than staying closed-off and ominous, it “opens up” in the latter half – brightening, blooming into a more melodic and emotional register that feels both unexpected and perfectly timed. The payoff is subtle yet powerful, like a door cracking open to a different dimension just when energy peaks.
There’s an unmistakable Electro punch embedded in the groove – sharp percussions, elastic low-end pressure, and a shuffled pulse that lifts the track beyond traditional House territory. The hybrid identity gives “Punch Box” both club utility and character: smooth, atmospheric, and dripping in intrigue, yet engineered for peak-time push.
This is House cooked low and slow: rich in flavour, constructed with patience, and achingly playable. As an opener, it sets the tone for the EP with confidence – inviting dancers into a world where mood and muscle operate hand in hand.
A seriously pushy floor weapon, and one that will stick around in DJ bags for months to come.
